VISITORSMission StatementWe, the Student Leadership Council, are committed to the development of the Lee University family and surrounding community through Christ-centered servant-leadership. It is our goal to cultivate positive relationships with others and among ourselves, effectively represent the needs and concerns of our fellow students, assist in the development of new leaders, and provide multiple facets for student involvement. We strive for excellence in all we do, and we agree to follow the standards set by the SLC Core Values and our Christian worldview. Our MandateTo act justly, and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Thanks for visiting the Lee University Student Leadership Council (SLC) website. The SLC is the student government organization at Lee University. We exist to serve the Lee University campus through providing holistic student development. We do this through providing leadership development, service opportunities, and engaging campus events. For more on what SLC does around campus, go to the Campus tab, or for more information on how our organization works go to the Senate tab. The SLC is comprised of students who serve voluntarily on standing committees in order to put on campus events and engage in community as we strive to develop each other as student leaders. The SLC takes as our mandate from Micah 6:8b, "And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly, and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." We hold to a philosophy of servant leadership and seek to equip students to critically engage the culture and serve the needs of our community. As an organization we hold fast to the following principles and values. As a member of our organization, each person is expected to maintain them in the leadership positions we are given: Core ValuesWe, the Lee University Student Leadership Council (SLC), exist to serve the university family and local community by offering model activities and programs for holistic personal development. We understand that what we do is driven by our core values. We seek to identify these values, to utilize them as guiding principles in our work together, and to hold each other accountable to them. Personal Relationship with ChristWe commit ourselves to a personal relationship with Christ, continually striving to grow spiritually. Personal CharacteristicsWe strive to model integrity and honesty in all we do. We do what we say we will do and speak the truth in love. We communicate freely regarding SLC matters and endeavor to avoid personal agendas in our dealings with each other. We approach our work with enthusiasm. Representing StudentsWe recognize our role on campus and understand that we are in positions of trust, representing our fellow students. We seek to serve those we represent by understanding their concerns, responding with compassion, and offering opportunities for them to develop. We follow the ethic of reciprocity--doing unto others as we would have them do unto us. We also understand that each individual is unique. We seek to understand and utilize the diversity among us. Relationships among OurselvesWe are a team. We each have strengths and weaknesses that we bring to the group. We understand our own limitations and enlist support in our work when needed. Collaboration is a critical element in accomplishing our mission. We hold each other accountable to biblical principles and these core values. We respect each others' contributions. Understanding our RoleWe understand that we are student leaders on this campus. Our work will affect and often involve other student groups, university employees, and community members. We remain mindful of our position, always seeking to serve others in their need. We seek to collaborate with others whenever possible. A primary focus is to link formal classroom learning with students' living experiences. Statement of CommitmentWe commit to God and each other to honor these core values in all we do. We give God all glory for any accomplishments.
